Spring Chickens celebrated the end of our summer term with a wonderful day out to Mount Melleray abbey in West Waterford yesterday. After tea and fresh scones in the CnD Community Café, we headed out for a gentle explore of the abbey and it’s grounds, with an invitation to prayers with the monks and a refreshing lunch. Fr. Richard welcomed us to the abbey and as well as kindly serving our lunch, gave us an interesting talk on the history of Melleray Abbey and of the Cistercian Order in Ireland. John Daly Coaches provided our comfortable transport, and we are looking forward to planning our next trip, which will take place on the last Monday before Easter. Thanks to everyone who came along for a grand day out in good company!

Spring Chickens will be back on Mondays from 15th September and our autumn programme of activities will be published in August.
