Zero Waste festival in Youghal: what’s that about?

The Zero Waste Family Festival being held at Youghal GAA on Saturday October 1st from 12-4pm promises to bring a wealthy of knowledge and new interests to the area. Youghal’s Blue & Green Community Network has partnered with VOICE Ireland to deliver workshops, information and opportunities to local residents of all ages.

VOICE Ireland, which celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, is a member-based Irish environmental charity that empowers individuals and local communities to take positive action to conserve our natural resources. VOICE Ireland advocates for the government and the corporate sector to adopt environmentally responsible behaviours, and for the development of strong national policies on waste prevention and the circular economy.

These two groups, along with Youghal GAA, have brought in support and activities from a wide range of providers, including the Rhincrew Cookery School, Return for Change recycling project, African Drumming, Seapink Vintage, Cork County Council and others to provide new approaches, kitchen caddies, upcycling ideas along with some fun and games.

Grillmore will have their food and coffee truck open for the event. Bring your reusable cup or a ceramic mug and you’ll pay a reduced rate for your hot drinks!

‘Together we are stronger’ says the Blue & Green Network and on October 1st, the beginning of national Reuse Month, let’s get together and see what changes we can make!
