Community Climate Action Worker 

Youghal Blue & Green Community Network is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Community Climate Action Worker to support community-led climate action and environmental initiatives in the Youghal area.

The Role

This role will work with local communities, schools and organisations to support community-led and inclusive climate action, helping communities move towards a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and operation of the Blue & Green Energy Information Hub.
• Work with Sustainable Energy Communities to implement local climate action initiatives.
• Deliver projects focused on renewable energy, biodiversity, clean water, and sustainability.
• Coordinate community engagement initiatives, including Climate Action Week.
• Deliver workshops and awareness campaigns to promote environmental action.
• Support local organisations to build capacity for environmental and sustainability initiatives.
• Identify and apply for funding opportunities and coordinate projects funded by external organisations.

Person Specification

We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic community-minded professional with a background in environment, sustainability, climate action or a related field. The ideal candidate is engaging, a strong communicator, and passionate about community development and social inclusion.

Essential Requirements

• A relevant third level qualification in Environment, Climate Change, Sustainability, Energy, Ecology or a related discipline.
• Experience in environmental or community-based “Blue & Green” work (paid or voluntary)
• Experience facilitating groups and working with diverse communities
• Strong communication and community engagement skills
• Understanding of community development principles and social inclusion
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Full clean driving licence

Salary: €38,049 gross
Hours: Full-time – 35 hours per week
Location: Cumann na Daoine, Youghal
Contract Type: 1 Year fixed-term contract
