Christmas was surely in the air last Monday when the Spring Chickens held their Christmas party. A wonderful day was had by all with many kinds of fun to be had. It was a true pleasure to see everyone there, and to celebrate together.
We welcomed Canon Bermingham and the Rev. Andrew Orr in the morning to give us a Christmas blessing – thank you to both gentlemen for this kindness. We then welcomed 4th & 5th class students from South Abbey National School who gave us a great musical recital of Christmas songs – they were so lovely and hearing children sing at Christmas shared the Christmas spirit with us all. We hope the children will join us again in the new year for some outreach singing! Huge thanks to Taylor Long and all the South Abbey staff for making this happen, and a big shout of thanks to John Long Coaches for sponsoring their transport to and from the event. After the choir left, we had a rousing sing of carols ourselves, with some games and the arrival of Santa! He was very much welcome and as you can see from the photos, we were all keen to have our photo taken with him. Small gifts were given to all our lovely Chicks who were also very generous to the staff. Thank you, Santa!
The CnD Café staff prepared a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. They worked so hard to make things perfect for the group – and definitely succeeded. Thanks to them all for the day – and their care of the group all year round.
Thanks also to Mark, Aíne, Sinead and Kelly who helped the day go with a swing.
Spring Chickens will be back on 12th January for another year of sociable fun. New members are always welcome!
