Culture Night Cumann Na Daoine Style

Cumann Na Daoine Cultural Night
Friday 21st September 2012

What a fantastic night Culture Night 2012 was for Cumann na Daoine.  It was truly wonderful far greater than we had expected. We had such a crowd…it was UNREAL, the multi cultural aspect, along with all the different nationalities who turned up made the night a fantastic success and a great night was had by all. Words cannot describe how thrilled we were and still are.

To those who organised the event and gave of their time, to all who provided food, and those who sponsored the food for the barbeque, Sammy Revins butcher Front Strand Youghal & Sean Twomey butchers main street Youghal.  The Ladies from the Cumann Na Daoine Women’s group who provided a fabulous selection of cakes and pastries.  To the Lighthouse Brasserie who made a traditional Hungarian dessert “Somloi” which went down a treat for those who got to try it, and Le Gourmet for their savoury breads and cakes.

To our committed and utterly fabulous volunteers on the night, and to the ladies who manned the food table. Without you there it wouldn’t have been the success it was. YOU ARE WONDERFUL and thank you just doesn’t seem enough.

To High Spirits, (not forgetting Eleanor & Sinead), Daniel Ryan, our friend Luna from Peru who treated us to a tune on the pan pipes and especially to Jim Lane who made the night what it was, A big thank you to all for making the night a fantastic success.

A huge thanks to Liam Power, Dolores Corcoran who was ably assisted by Mack Dempsey who did a lot of leg work around town, delivering posters and securing sponsorship, To Virginia Corcoran Sandoval who manned the barbeque, and kept the food flowing.  Not only that but Virginia and her husband made a fab homemade chilli and guacamole sauce.

Last but not least – for those who donated spot prizes….Cree’s Card shop, Murphy’s Chemist, Mari Mina Chemist, Walsh’s Pharmacy and Read n Write thank you sooo much.   To Cumann na daoine for sponsoring a hamper ….those who gave bottles of wine & liqueurs…

A great shout out to the Dungarvan Men’s Social & Educational group for coming all the way up from Dungarvan, (you must have smelt the food lads), and supporting us

Lastly a huge thanks goes to Michelle Hennessy Town Mayor for opening our event and her wonderful words.  Thanks for understanding exactly who we are and what our work in Youghal has meant over the last 17 yrs, Michelle!!!!

I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone…that would not be my intention

THANK YOU EVERYONE NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE
