Sandcastle Challenge! Saturday August 17th

Sandcastle Challenge! Youghal Blue and Green Community Network is delighted to announce details of an exciting public beach event to put a spotlight on the risks of sea level rise in Youghal.

We need your help! Our plan is to create 477 sandcastles to represent each and every home and business in Youghal that is at risk due to sea level rise. Bring your buckets and shovels! No need to buy anything, bring what you have, a garden shovel or even some plant pots. Community artists Veronica Santorum, Daniel Clancy and Sean Corcoran will be on hand to guide you in a race against the tide! The event is being recorded by film maker Peter Grogan so you might even end up in our little film.

The Sandcastle challenge takes place on the Front Strand, Saturday August 17th from 10am to 12pm. This is a free event but booking is requested on our event page here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/youghal-sandcastle-challenge-tickets-978285778097?aff=oddtdtcreator

Alternately you can sign in with one of the Blue & Green volunteers on the day. All are welcome.
