Zero Waste Festival nearly here!

Only a week to go before Youghal’s first ever Zero Waste Festival takes place! Held at Youghal GAA this is a fun way to find out more about ways to help the environment and reduce your waste costs.

At the first ever Zero Waste Festival next weekend (Saturday October 1st, Youghal GAA, 12-4pm) we’ll be harnessing the power of art to help us get to grips with reusing and recycling. Artist Martha Cashman of More Clay Less Plastic Ireland will be giving a ceramics workshop for all ages and this is sure to be fun!

Martha’s Eco Awareness Birdfeeders  workshop is a Make n Take session – it includes making your own bird to take home and hang on your wall, as well as a Garden Bird ID session – learn the sounds and Irish words for the daily visitors to your garden.

Another art element to the day is part of a bigger local arts project ‘Greening the Green’. This project focuses on the local estates and participants devise their own ideas for a piece that reflects their area and their environment. Artist Eileen McGoldrick will give a workshop using a variety of materials to get the ball rolling! No arts experience is needed for either of these – just a willingness to have fun!
