This year we’re following Covid19 guidelines so we won’t be meeting on the beach…but we are delighted to announce that Mayor of County Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan-Foley, will be raising the Rainbow Flag at the County Council Offices, The Mall, tomorrow at 11.30am. We welcome the Council’s support of the LGBT+ people of Youghal, East Cork and West Waterford, and the acknowledgement of this support is a visible demonstration of inclusivity and equality.
Tomorrow afternoon, Youghal Library staff will accept the donation of an LGBT+ Reference collection, which includes research reports, toolkits and books. This collection provides a focus point for LGBT+ studies and for information sharing. We are delighted that Youghal Library will be housing these publications and invite you all to take a look over the coming weeks.
Local businesses are also supporting Youghal Pride by the Sea, with the Old Imperial and Walter Raleigh Hotels flying their rainbow flags, and a number of businesses are proudly displaying their Youghal – supporting the LGBT+ Community’ stickers. Please support those who support us!
Cumann na Daoine, the development organisation for the LGBT+ Network, have provided ongoing support since Youghal Pride by the Sea started and we are proud to work alongside them in increasing visibility and services for LGBT+ people in the region.
On Saturday some Network members will be making a short film and that, along with images from the flag raising and library donation, will be up online this Saturday, 26th September at 6pm on this page.
