New: group therapy service for LGBTQ+ young people & their parents from BeLonG To

Mental health plays an important role in our vision of a world where LGBTQ+ young people are equal, safe, and valued.

BeLonG To LGBT+ Youth Service is excited to let you know about their new group therapy service for LGBTQ+ young people & their parents. 

This project is generously funded by The Community Foundation For Ireland.

BeLonG To are partnering with psychotherapist Jim Hutton (G.S.D. Counselling, Psychotherapy & Awareness) who will lead and facilitate online group therapy sessions. Group psychotherapy is a place where every person is

offered an opportunity to be truly heard in a safe and non-judgmental way. It is a place for facilitating and encouraging individual personal process. Above all, it is a space of confidentiality and trust.

Group Therapy for LGBTQ+ Youth

This group is for LGBTQ+ young people between 18 and 24 years old who are experiencing anxiety, stress, suicide ideation, bullying, self-harm, discrimination or trauma in relation to their sexual orientation or gender identity. The weekly sessions will be 60 minutes and take place on a Thursday at 5:30pm.

Group Therapy for Parents of LGBTQ+ Youth

These group therapy sessions are for any parent of young LGBTQ+ person(s) who is experiencing emotional anxiety, stress, or trauma due to concerns they may have for their child’s safety, emotional health, or wellbeing as a result of their child’s sexual orientation or gender identity. Sessions will be 75 minutes and take place fortnightly on Thursday evenings at 7:15pm. There will be a maximum of eight clients facilitated in the online group.
