Minceirs Whiden survey and event

Minceirs Whiden (‘Irish travellers Talking’) are currently undertaking a Strategic plan and are hoping to launch this in early 2023. However, this process needs your support in order to have Traveller voices included. A link for the planning survey is below.

To date members have called for Minceirs Whiden to reach out to projects and have a conversation regarding how we can build a more active Traveller-only space and in order to do this they need as many Travellers to engage in the survey as possible. Please complete this if it is relevant to you, and share it through your networks, supporting and encouraging Traveller voices to participate.

Please see survey link here; https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C5Q33LM

Minceirs Whiden are also issuing an emergency call for a national Traveller-only meeting to have an open conversation to where Minceirs Whiden is now and how to work together to rebuild a national Traveller only space: this meeting will be held on

25th of November in Creggan Court Hotel, Athlone from 1- 4pm

Minceirs Whiden is now at a crossroads. They are working hard nationally to build a strong political movement. In 2019 they launched a Travellers in politics and political participation document, and are currently building a Minceirs Whiden youth group for 16-27 years old to build leadership and activism and have a LGBTQ+ Youth space.

During Covid19 Minceirs Whiden members were brought together via the powers of zoom and digital platforms and Minceirs Whiden has recognised the importance of media, but also the digital exclusion faced by our community. Therefore, they are building a Media Strategy to ensure that the community is involved in all aspects of MW.

The survey link will be deactivated 6pm on the 21st of November and Minceirs Whiden thank you for your input, and they look forward seeing members from your Projects in Athlone of the 25th of November.
