From Frank at Youghal Active Retirement Association (YARA):
As you are aware there was a recent high level cyberattack on the HSE, which has been described as sophisticated high level fraud.
Digital, or on-line, fraud has become more prevalent, and the older generation has now become a prime target for this area of criminality.
We all need to understand the implications of this, and our best defence is to stay informed and alert.
I attach a short document from Age Action (click this link): 29253-age_action_a5_scams_and_frauds_leaflet_web (2) which has some good information to help you defend yourself in this area.
There is also a site is called Fraud Smart, which is operated by the Irish Banking and Payments Federation – link here: https://www.fraudsmart.ie/personal/fraud-scams/ Go to the Personal section for some good advice.
Our new adage is – Stay Safe and Stay Secure – take steps to be safe and secure in your on-line activities.
