Cork North Community Work Department/HSE Social Inclusion is delighted to invite MECPATHS to deliver Anti-Child Trafficking Training- Know It, See It, Say It. Globally, 33% of all victims of Human Trafficking are children. In Ireland, since 2019, no Child Trafficking victims have been successfully identified by the state. The training will take place online via zoom on Thursday 21st July 11am-1pm. Please register in advance via https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEscOCrqz4qGN12AkCDeTzVl2sM4glNZkt8.

It is hoped that staff employed in Cork Kerry Community Healthcare HSE and managers/employees/volunteers working in residential settings such as direct provision centres, emergency centres and temporary accommodation facilities including those involved in supporting Ukrainian Refugees will be able to take advantage of this necessary training.

MECPATHS is  a not-for- profit organisation founded in 2013 in response to Child Trafficking as a growing human rights and social justice issue, in Ireland. It works to raise awareness around the issue of Child Trafficking and educates frontline and emerging professionals on how to recognise indicators and report their concerns to the authorities. The following YouTube animation explains more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NlGsy7rKZA.

This training will empower participants to be confident in their approach when assessing potential risks of exploitation from child trafficking, and indeed human trafficking in general and how to respond, especially for certain groups in particular including;

  • Migrant workers
  • International Protection Office Applicants and Refugees including unaccompanied minors
  • Homeless
  • People affected by substance disorders
  • Disabilities
  • Residential settings including foster care
  • Minority groups
